The 2009 Green Inaugural Ball took place in the Donald W. Reynolds Center for American Art. Many people and environmentalist groups, who are promoting the use of renewable energy sources like wind, solar, geothermal, tidal energy had joined the event.

The event was executed in accordance with House and Senate ethics rules without the sit-down dinner. Everybody celebrated the event with open bar with a message to start green revolution and fight climate change. Indeed the event was a green as possible. The menu included locally-sourced, organic, and seasonal food. All acceptable leftover food was donated to DC Central Kitchen.
